Enclave Games Monthly Report: November 2014

2nd December 2014 in Enclave Games

The summary for November is not so good: fightnig with clients to get the money for my work, doing lots of unrelated stuff, fixing bugs, low interest of publishers in buying licenses for our games, no time for Wizard Quest development. At the beginning of 2015 I will have to revise my plans for the future.

Games

Client work, translations, API implementations, bug fixes, missing Wizard Quest development.

Writing

Two short blog posts about the events I talked at: ZTG Gamedev Convention during Poznan Game Arena 2014 and Two talks in one day during the Hungarian Web Conference. It’s more than a month ago anyway.

Events

I’ve visited Budapest at the Hungarian Web Conference and gave two talks: Take Control of the Game with the Gamepad API and Developing Games for Firefox OS. The city was nice, it was great to meet some friends from the local community.

Other

Managing the js13kGames competition is almost over. The t-shirts were printed and delivered, stickers are already waiting patiently and the 3,5” diskettes were bought and filled with 2014 games. Now is the time to prepare the packages and send them to the participants, sponsors and judges.

There was a positive thing in November though – somebody bought the license for… Front Invaders. I have no idea how they found the game, but they did. It was created in 2011 to promote the Front Row conference, I created it to get the free ticket for the event. It was quite popular then, along with onSpaceStart and Front-Face, because there was so little HTML5 games – it was posted in many “top 30 HTML5 games” types of lists across the world. It’s so nice to get paid for that game after so many years.

Plans for the next month

I don’t think I’ll be able to finish Wizard Quest till the end of the month (fail of the year), but at least I will try. There are just too many distractions going on.
